Postnatal Period
Nice that you are here - dear child
Postnatal care at home
Parents have the option to go home with the baby four to six hours after the birth. In the following days, they will be visited regularly by their assigned postnatal midwife. Experiencing this time in one’s own home and starting as a family in a familiar environment right from the start is a very lovely, personal way to begin the postnatal period. The mother will receive a care package prepared by Delphys of items for her and the baby.
Postnatal care at Delphys
After birth, you may also choose to stay at Delphys for three to four nights. We provide a family room for the mother, baby and partner who is involved in the care of the child. Older siblings are welcome during visiting hours.
During these first days, the midwives accompany the parents after the birth and offer a peaceful start into the new family life. The midwives perform the necessary medical examinations of the mother and her child and advise parents on the care of the baby each morning. They also come for a visit before dinner to answer any further questions that arose during the day. The rest of the day, midwives encourage the family to operate independently to empower the mother and partner to approach the new phase of life with confidence. However, they are available always should assistance be needed.
The Delphys Birth Centre has been a UNICEF certified baby-friendly Birth Centre since 1997. When advising the breastfeeding mother, the midwives follow the measures for successful breastfeeding recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF. The parents of babies who are not breastfed also receive optimal support in feeding their child.
During the postnatal period, the families are given three meals a day by our private chefs using organic, regional products wherever possible. Special dietary needs will be accommodated.
