Giving birth in Delphys - step by step
The informational meeting is intended as a first contact with the Delphys Birth Centre. It is mandatory for everyone who wants to give birth for the first time in the Delphys Birth Centre. The meeting is free and takes place via Zoom. The informational meetings are held in German and English. The dates can be found under "Veranstaltungen - Informationsveranstaltung" on the German page. A click on the desired event date takes you to the registration form. Please understand that events can be fully booked and participation in the informational event does not guarantee a place for the birth. New dates are constantly being added. Please be patient if all events are currently fully booked. After registering for the online informational event, you will receive an email confirmation with all the information you need for a successful Zoom event.
In the first consultation, the midwives clarify whether the wishes, ideas, and the state of health of the pregnant woman meet the requirements and are in harmony with the values of the Delphys Birth Centre.
The midwives can carry out pregnancy examinations from the first to the last week of pregnancy. If the birth is planned in Delphys, we advise women to have the examinations in the Birth Centre. Midwife care offers a unique approach to prenatal examinations by carrying out the exams and offering advice from a natural and holistic mindset. At the latest, the exams must be taken over by Delphys as of the 37th week.
At the beginning of the birth, the pregnant woman or the accompanying person contacts the Delphys Birth Centre. The midwife on duty will discuss the next steps and will be available to the woman for the entirety of the birth. The accompanying person is encouraged to be always present. The woman giving birth can also be accompanied by more than one person.
Most families experience the postnatal period, i.e. the first days after the birth, in our postnatal rooms. In our rooms there is space for mother, child and one accompanying person. Siblings of the newborn are welcome as visitors.
Delphys also facilitates outpatient births. In this case, the family leaves the Birth Centre four to six hours after the birth and is regularly visited at home by a midwife in the following days.
Courses and advice on everything to do with pregnancy, childbirth, the postnatal period, breastfeeding, and family time round off what the Birth Centre has to offer. They will be held in German and can be found here: Kurse und mehr
